    Training

    Health & Safety Training forms an integral part of our Integrated SHE Management System. All training courses are aligned to the skills Development Legislation and National Unit Standards.

    We have developed 9 courses namely:

    Objectives

    • To provide the learner with the basic knowledge of Health & Safety at the workplace.
    • To comply with Section 8 and 13. To provide the learner an overview of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Relevant Sections.

    Course Content
    • Introduction to the Incident Sequence, Legislation Sections 8, 9, 13, 14 and 37
    • Incident causes and possible consequences, Health & Safety Representatives
    • Consultations, Designations and Functions, Health & Safety Inspection Criteria and Practical Exercise
    • Introduction to Incident Investigation

    Objectives

    • To adhere with Sections 17-20 and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
    • To ensure elected Health & Safety Representatives conduct Health & Safety Inspections of the workplace by using an appropriate check list.
    • To ensure that Health & Safety Committees meet to discuss the findings of the Health & Safety requirements and make recommendations to the employer representatives.
    • To ensure that employer institutes corrective action to prevent the re-occurrence of downgrading incidents.
    • To report incidents directly to Department of Labour should the employer not take corrective action.

    Objectives

    • To ensure that Management and persons responsible for legal compliance are informed about their duties in relationship to the requirements of the Act.
    • To ensure that no Contravention Notice is issued for No-Compliance to Health & Safety Legislation.

    Course Content
    • Introduction and General Responsibilities.
    • Accident Incident Investigation, Initial Action, Analysing Accident/Incident Causes, The written report, Developing Corrective actions, Communication.

    Objectives

    • To ensure compliance with the legal requirements as per relevant legislation and ensuring preventative action is implemented to prevent re-occurrence.
    • To ensure a process of reported incident to be assessed and where necessary investigated to determine the root causes of the incident.
    • To provide a process for the monitoring of planned corrective actions to prevent or reduce the risk of re-occurrence of reported incidents.

      Fainting, Unconsciousness, Recovery Position, Respiratory Conditions, Choking, Drowning, Artificial Respiration, Circulatory Conditions, CPR, Acute Illness, Heart Attack, Stroke, Bronchial Asthma, Epilepsy.
    • Wounds & Bleeding
      Bandaging Techniques, Hypovolaemic Shock, Foreign Object Management, Amputation Injuries.
    • Fractures
      Burns, Scalds and Electrical Injuries, Poisoning/Corrosion, Inhalation, Swallowing, Injection.

    Objectives

    • The purpose of the course is to train learners to give emergency help to an injured or suddenly ill person using available material.
    • To ensure compliance to General Safety Regulation 3.
    • To give emergency help and record all incidents in the workplace.

    Course Content

    Fire theory, Classification of fires, Fire prevention and immediate action, Operating basic fire fighting equipment, Extinguishing fires.

    Objectives

    • To have sufficiently trained fire fighters in all areas.

    • Assist with precaution measures.
    • Identify the different types of fire extinguishers and their usage.
